Report Management – Clone Report

Clone Report is the function that “save as” an existing report with all relevant and assigned informations. Imagine you have a report with about 40 recipients with relevant filters. And you’d like to send (with the same recipients and filters) another report (reportID) to them. You can now go to the admin interface of the reports and click on the “clone report” function. This will produce the same report with the name “CLONE: My Existing Report”. After this you can edit the report and change the ReportID.

Dynamic Forms

Why dynamic Forms?

You might as, what is the reason for building dynamic forms in QlikView? Well, the reasons are:

  1. QlikView is a analysing tool, now real logiq is build in to UPDATE date
  2. QlikView doesn’t know the logiq, which datapoints are needed to UPDATE data – you need a place where you can define the KEYS
  3. Workflow is needed to commit, approve and apply UPDATES

So to fix those open issues, I come to the point where a form generator is needed where you can manage the KEYS, WORKFLOW and finally the UPDATE to the original source. Checkout our latest version of beeyeQvService and you’ll find the first beta of the tool;) And after this post I will write a short How-To on how to implement it in your QlikView enviroment…

After you have logged in as Administrator and you’ve clicked the “HOME” link, you’ll see the “manage Reports” – Button at the bottom of the page. Pls. click it and you’ll get forwarded to the following page:

Testing the Service with SOAP-UI

After you have installed the service, it could be usefull to test the functionallity! We suggest to use the community or commercial version of soapUI, which can be found on sourceforge…

To install the beeyeQvService, first you need to fill out the following form and then a download link will be forwarded to you. The download is available for 1 week, after that period, you have to fill out the form again and then you’ll get a new link via Mail.

Manage Organisation Groups

NEW Feature!!! (2011-04-11)

As it is sometimes neccessary to manage user groups, which will recieve the same report with the same settings. I’m proud to announce the new feature in the User Management, which allows you to define a Organisation as a group. This is done at the to, next to the salutation.

After you have activated this feature, you need to reload the page, to get the correct input view:

As you can see, you can now add several users with the related communication information. Notice! You are allowed to add a user several times, as you send e.g. a mail to different adresses;)

Manage Communication

Manage Communications

After you have created a new user, you need to add the information on how to deploy the reports generated by QlikView. This can be done by a click on the update (PENCIL) symbol in the admin interface, which can be found here:

After that you will get forwarded to the organisation detail page – as it is now no more a new user, at the bottom you will find a new area, where you can manage the different communication options for the user, available parameters are:

  • E-Mail : info@beeye.org
  • Share: \\192.168.0.1\public\reports\user
  • Fax: 0049 711 852505@faxgateway.com

If you are interested in an individual deployment, tell us about! At the moment, we think this will fit most of the common needs.

Installing PDFPrinter and Configuration

Installing the printer

For the usage of the printing functionallity, we need to install the QlikViewPrinter Version 9 on the Server-Maschine. You can download it from the QlikView Download Page.

After you have installed the printer pls change the settings for “SAVE” as shown in the following screenshot:

Note! It’s important to set those settings, otherwise the “default” file will be saved into a wrong directory and the service will not find the latest produced report to continue it’s work. In the application.config, you can set another directory “defaultpdfuri”, so you can change the path for the printer as long it ist the same as this setting.
